In this intermediate yoga class I will take you step by step, pose by pose through how to do half moon balancing yoga pose. We will begin by opening your hips and releasing your hamstrings. There are also several yoga postures to bring flexibility to your spine and upper body strength. The core of the practice will focus on standing balancing postures with simple balancing postures close to the ground to prepare you for the standing balancing postures, as well as standing balancing postures with the use of props to prepare you for half moon balancing pose. After half moon balancing pose we will restore your nervous system with a simple inversion, downward facing dog and ground with front facing backbends and simple twists and squats to finish the class.
For this week´s Poetry in Motion class we are drawing on Poem Paradox by Jeff Dickson. This poem speaks clearly about how our yoga practice allows us to stay connected in a high speed, low connection culture. It reminds me of the slow movement, which seeks to connect us more meaningfully with others, the place we live and ourselves. The issue of time poverty can be solved by making a connection, with ourselves. Through our yoga practice we can slow down and get to know how our body feels, not just how it looks.
